Wedding
Coordinator/Wedding Planner
If you are looking for
a fun field to work in, try working as a wedding coordination. The
wedding industry is a thriving market. You must enjoy people and have
patience. Anxious Brides can sometimes be difficult. (Bride-zilla)
:)
If you are an
organized person who loves weddings, this just may be you perfect
opportunity. There is a strong need to keep current with trends,
flowers, gowns, colors and the best places to obtain these things.
Reception themes, and what's in, are always changing, so you need to
keep abridged of changes in your occupation.
Couples are turning to
consultants for a number of reasons. Time is a factor for couples,
both having full time careers, trying to organize the most important day
in their lives would be very stressful. Weddings are
changing to a reflection of the two personalities (getting married on
home plate, or underwater) and what is important to them. You
would be helping to make their special day a little less
stressful. By you being the authority in your chosen
field, you would know the best places to go and be able to save the
couple money as well.
You would need to be
knowledgeable in etiquette and hospitality, plus the ability to make
good contacts through networking with other businesses involved in the
same industry. (Florist, Bridal Boutiques, Photographers,
Reception Halls) Having good fashion sense could only be a plus and be
creative wouldn't hurt either.
There are many areas
to being a Wedding Coordinator and you would be expected to know them
all. Being successful would bring you a good income and a great
deal of satisfaction and a lot of fun, too! There are training
courses for this opportunity, both online, in local colleges (most
times offered as evening courses) and vocational schools.
If you make an online search, you should be able to come up with many
links to investigate.
Remember, being
successful is important, but, being successful and enjoying what you're
doing is key. When you work at something you enjoy, You are
unstoppable! MaM 8/07
